Taking a drive to see what we could see...

Driving around town today, looking at mailboxes and what ever else we could see.... We spotted a huge cottonwood that was struck by lightning. The kids were awe struck.

It is awesome to see a huge tree cut down from a lightning strike.

In the courtyard stood
The lonely cottonwood
and nestled beneath the eaves
the first yellow leaves of spring.

Awe-"struck" is right. Me, too!

Mom, I didn't know that was your own poem, although I do remember it somehow from my childhood.
