One more post...

3 in one day... I am starting to think I have a problem!! ;) I know what it is, school starts for me in a week and I am getting it all in now. lol I actually got a lot accomplished today; cleaned and reorganized the bathroom (noone better use is!), rehung my shower curtain and all, cleaned the entire house, got all my laundry done, set up a school area for Hannah and me, worked on Hannah's word recognition, reorganized my list for Costco next weekend, did the dishes, cleaned off the porch, played with the new puppy, watched a movie with Hannah and Todd, cleaned and dusted our bedroom, went through insurance papers to pick for our renewal tomorrow and I only had one pot of Coffee. LOL

But... that is not the reason for the post.
Hannah and I were looking up stuff to do over our Christmas vacation and she asked me, "what is that Debi lady doing for Christmas, what is Dad's cousins doing for Christmas, huh, what do you think?". So here we are with a question... What are your plans for Christmas and let us in on a family tradition too. :) We are going to Mississippi for Christmas. It is hard to believe Christmas is just around the corner.

My mom, sister and I started a new tradition a few years ago. "Home-made Christmas." The idea was that everything we exchanged was home-made. It meant that everything that was exchanged was very special. After a the first couple of years we have loosened up a little and have allowed ourselves to be just as please with store bought gifts, after all... sometimes it's very difficult to become inspired. I must say though, my favorite gift to make was for the second Christmas. Mom and I pooled our efforts and built a puppet theater for 6 month old Katlynn. Too cute. Someday I'll post the photos.

Audrey, that is one of my favorite gifts, too. It was fun from start to finish -- designing it together, making it with you (and your friends that dropped by), painting it in my cramped living room, and then remember the original puppet play, "Christmas Comes to the Farm?" Oh my gosh what a time we had. If you post pictures, I'll have to find the "script" for you to include. (I remember only one line "Holy Cholesterol!" spoken by the Pig.)

Good times. Good times.

This year? I don't know! You are so organized, Windy, thinking of Christmas already. I suspect, though, I'll be staying home and the highlight of the season will be seeing what Santa brought Katlynn.

Debi,
You have become a household name. :) Hannah loves the blog thing and the fact that we have friends now in internet space just makes her smile. :)

On the orginization front... I have to be more so now that I am hitting the end of college, plus traveling 3200 miles for a weeks vacation, well lets just say, I better get with it. lol We are going to see Grandpa and Grandma and meeting in Miss.

I am looking into taking some books down there for any of the libraries that may have been hit by Katrina. Hannah is helping pick out the childrens books from the stacks we have and she is so excited.

Anyways... I can not wait to see the photos of Katlynn's puppet theater. Holy Cholesterol!! What a hoot!!!

We bake, bake, bake...
Eat cheese, crackers and sausage on Christmas Eve.
The night that the tree is all decorated- the kids get to sleep underneath it.
These are just a few.
MERRY CHRISTMAS, WINDY!!!!!!

Here's two more...
Every year the girls and I make a new set of ornaments. We keep two (1 for each girl) and give the rest away as gifts. (I'm looking for ideas this year.)
Every year, we buy the girls a nre ornament. The older gets a angel and the younger gets a star. When they grow up and move out, they'll take these ornaments with them! FUN!!!

Christina, I love making ornaments, too. And each year I try to decorate my tree differently than the year before. Have you made salt dough ornaments, using cooking cutters to cut them out, a straw to make the hole, bake them, then paint them with cheapie acrylics, and hang them on the tree with a ribbon? That's probably Homemade Ornaments 101, but thought I would share just in case.

I'm not sure what we're doing for Christmas. We'll be visiting family *around* Christmas, but as far as the day itself, it looks like we will be here. So I guess we need to start planning!

Here is one that we did the first year Hannah was born... All of the cousins came over and we purchased clear bulbs and decorated them. I still have all but one of them from 7 years ago. It was fun, we took acrylic paint and pourded it in the bulb and swirled, shook it and added glitter. We then took one of the glass markers and wrote names, dates etc. It was a blast, I will have to look for those photos.

Christmas is such a joyous time and to celebrate the birth of our Savior... We love it!!

Yeah! I'm not the only one thinking about Christmas. I've been playing Burl Ives and Bing for over a week now.

No Tami you are not alone. :) Actually we have been planning Christmas since Feb. or so. We made reservations in April, with traveling it seems the only way to do it is plan a year in advance. :)
Merry Christmas!!!
